We went grocery shopping on Wednesday. I'm feeling kind of meh about this shop. We spent $108.36, but it doesn't feel like we really got all that much.

dairy
large sour cream (for Christmas Eve Dinner) - 3.48
yogurt - 5.28
milk - 1.25
cheese - 5.73

produce
white onion - .71
10 lb Potatoes - 5.98
9 lb mandarin oranges 5.88
cucumber - 1.28
apples - 2.69
banana's - 1.33
tomatoes - 2.99
red pepper - 2.01
green pepper - 1.69
orange pepper - 2.28

misc
crackers - 3.98
wraps - 3.38
case of applesauce (andrew loves these!) - 7.89
2 cans tuna - 1.94
2 cans of beans - 1.54
can of cheese soup (I've never bought this before....I hope it works well in my recipe) - 1.77
granola bars - 5.98
guacamole - 4.99
fruit to gos - 4.99
italian dressing - 1.57
sunflower seeds - 1.50

mr. creamy - 2.48
smarties - 7.02 (I've got to wean Steve off the Smarties--holy expensive!)

household
dish soap (phosphate free!) - 3.69
cake pans - 2.08

This totals about $122.78 before taxes (if my mathing is correct...which it very well might not be).

We had $18.68 in coupons (Superbucks, store coupons, and a PC Points Coupon for $5 off) which brought the total to $104.10 (ish) and then with the taxes equals 108.37 (ish). The bill actually says 108.36...but i don't want to do all that calculating again.

Final Total - $108.37. Not to bad. Could have been better. Steve couldn't find his employee card so we didn't get the 10% off...but that's okay because at least hefound it the next day.

Total Cost for Christmas Eve Dinner so far - $15.46.

Next time I go shopping I plan to make it the big one to include all the stuff for Christmas Eve dinner. I hope that it is only about $100. I feel like I'm blogging an awful lot about this dinner, but really it is a major big event for me. I've moved into the realm of grown up-hood and it's a complex event to arrange and it's darn expensive! Please forgive me for the Christmas Dinner ramblings.

Where do you live? Am I right in thinking Peggy's Cove? Things are so much more expensive for you, I can't believe it - it's so unfair! But good for you for saving so much in coupons, etc! That's sweet!
PS re: the smarties - do you ever make your own candy? Maybe that will help with the smarties addiction! :)

I love those Superbucks! I always make sure to try and fill up at the SuperSave gas simply so I get them. And I have actually found some left in the machines from travellers who have no need for them. Bonus!

Sounds like a great shop - nice prices too (comparatively)!

I hate the price of produce in the winter months! I can understand WHY things are more, but I still don't like it ;)

Where do you do your grocery shopping? I assume superstore? By the superbucks, and PC points! lol.
